Fruit is thrown up in front of a bamboo screen and you cut it out of the air with a fast swipe — the quicker your line, the more you catch in one stroke.
Did you like Fruit Slice?
Fruit Slice is a swipe-slicing arcade game for the browser. Apples, oranges, watermelons, kiwis, bananas, pineapples and strawberries are tossed up from the bottom of a wooden dojo, and a single fast swipe cuts anything the blade crosses. Every cut splits the fruit into two spinning halves, throws juice and seeds in that fruit's own colour and leaves a wet mark on the bamboo behind it. Line three, four or five fruits up on one stroke and the chain pays a bonus on top.
There are three ways to play. Classic is the long game: three fruits may hit the floor before it ends, and one black bomb ends it on contact, so the greedy swipe through a crowded screen is always a gamble. Zen is ninety quiet seconds with no bombs and no penalty for a miss — just fruit, a blade and a clock. Arcade is sixty loud seconds with special bananas mixed in: a frenzy banana buries the screen in fruit, a freeze banana slows everything to a crawl for six seconds, and a double banana pays twice for eight.
On a desktop you hold the mouse button and drag, or hold Space and sweep the blade with the arrow keys if you would rather not touch the mouse. On a phone or tablet you just draw across the screen with a finger, and the game fills the screen in portrait as happily as it does in landscape. A quick round takes a minute, your high score is saved per mode in your browser, and P pauses while M mutes.
Fruit Slice pays most for long, fast strokes. Cutting three, four or five fruits on one swipe earns a chain bonus, so wait a moment for the fruit to bunch together near the top of its arc and cut through the group rather than chasing each piece on its own.
In Classic, a single black bomb ends the game on contact and three dropped fruits do the same, so a greedy swipe through a crowded screen is a real gamble. When a bomb is in the air, draw shorter lines that steer around it. Zen has no bombs and no penalty for a miss, which makes its ninety seconds the right place to practise long combo strokes. In Arcade, treat the special bananas as priorities: frenzy fills the screen with fruit, freeze slows everything for six seconds and double pays twice for eight, so cutting them early leaves you the most time to use them.
In Fruit Slice, fruit is tossed up from the bottom of a wooden dojo and you cut it out of the air before it falls. Apples, oranges, watermelons, kiwis, bananas, pineapples and strawberries all appear, and one fast swipe cuts anything the blade crosses. Each fruit splits into two halves, and cutting three, four or five on a single stroke adds a chain bonus to your score.
Start by picking a mode. Classic carries on until three fruits hit the floor or you cut a black bomb, which ends the game on contact. Zen gives you ninety seconds with no bombs and no penalty for a missed fruit. Arcade lasts sixty seconds and mixes in special bananas: a frenzy banana fills the screen with fruit, a freeze banana slows everything for six seconds and a double banana pays twice for eight. In every mode the aim is the highest score you can reach, and your high score is saved separately for each mode in your browser.
On a computer you hold the mouse button and drag to swing the blade, or hold Space and steer it with the arrow keys or WASD. On a phone or tablet you draw across the screen with a finger, in portrait or landscape. The keys 1, 2 and 3 pick Classic, Zen and Arcade, R restarts, P pauses and M mutes.
Fruit Slice is an arcade slicing game, one of the swipe games that touch screens made popular, where everything comes down to a quick hand and a good eye. Kiloo made it for the browser, so it runs on a computer, tablet or phone with nothing to install.
Fruit Slice suits anyone who wants something quick and lively: a round takes about a minute, and the three modes let you choose how much pressure you want. Zen is calm enough for younger players or for practising long strokes, Classic adds the risk of bombs and dropped fruit, and Arcade turns the noise up with its special bananas. What gives this version its character is the detail in every cut. Each of the seven fruits has its own flesh, seeds and colour of juice, the halves spin away after the blade passes, and every cut leaves a wet mark on the bamboo screen behind it.
Yes. Fruit Slice is free to play in your browser on Kiloo, with nothing to download and no account to create. Your high score is saved separately for each mode in the browser you play in.
Yes. On a phone or tablet you draw across the screen with a finger, and the game fills the screen in portrait or landscape. On a computer you hold the mouse button and drag, or hold Space and steer with the arrow keys or WASD.
In Classic, cutting a black bomb ends the game straight away, just as three fruits hitting the floor does. If you would rather play without that worry, Zen gives you ninety seconds with no bombs and no penalty for a miss.
A quick round takes about a minute. Arcade lasts sixty seconds and Zen ninety, while Classic carries on until you drop three fruits or cut a bomb. Press R to restart, or 1, 2 and 3 to switch between modes.
Cut as many fruits as you can and line several up on one stroke, since three, four or five fruits in a single swipe earn a chain bonus. In Arcade, cut the double banana early so its eight seconds of double points pay out for longer. Each mode keeps its own high score.
Fruit Slice is about cutting fruit, with juice and seeds flying rather than anything frightening, and the only control is a swipe. Zen is the gentlest mode for younger players: ninety seconds with no bombs and no penalty for a miss, and nothing to download.
Quick rounds, high scores, one more go.
