Roll the dice, take the map

Put your welders on the scrap piles, feed the scrap into the factory and roll chunky little robots off the conveyor. Scouts run ahead, brawlers go in first, blasters shoot over their shoulders and a tank clears whatever is left. The other side is doing exactly the same thing across the floor.
Did you like Bot Battalion?
Bot Battalion is a small real-time strategy game played on a garage floor. The arena is concrete with taped-off lanes, oil stains and walls built out of cardboard cartons and toolboxes, and everything fighting over it is a toy: rounded steel robots with big eyes, a painted team stripe and a tool bolted to one arm. Your welders trundle out to the heaps of bolts and springs, carry a load back to the factory and go again, and that steady trickle of scrap is the whole game. Spend it on bots, spend it on a better factory, or spend it on a nail turret covering the door — you cannot have all three at once.
The factory stamps out six chassis. Scouts are cheap and fast and see a long way. Welders gather, build and mend. Brawlers wade in with mallet fists, blasters fire nails from well back, drones fly straight over the cardboard and tanks lob a spring-loaded shell that catches everything standing too close together. Upgrade the press to open the second and third tiers, put up turrets and a repair bay, and pick your fights: the bots walk around obstacles on their own, hold a loose formation, shoot at whatever wanders into range and turn round and run home when you tell them to.
Ten missions take you from a quiet warm-up on the practice bots to a two-factory floor boss, by way of holding the bench, freeing three boxed-up drones, taking the scrap yard in the middle and breaking a line of turrets. Each one is scored on time and on how many bots you lost, so the third star is worth going back for, and your stars are kept in your browser. Outside the missions there is a free skirmish on three floors against an opponent that gathers and builds exactly like you do, at Easy, Normal or Sharp — and Sharp scouts you out, builds against whatever it finds and sends runners after your welders. Drag a box round your bots and right-click to move them on a desktop, or tap a group button and tap the floor on a phone, with a minimap, a pause key and a double-speed button for the long build-ups.
Scrap is the whole game, so keep your welders busy from the first second. That steady trickle into the factory pays for everything else, and you cannot afford bots, factory upgrades and turrets all at once, so decide what you need right now. Early on, enough welders and a few cheap scouts usually serve you better than a big army you cannot keep up.
Mix your bots. Brawlers go in first while blasters fire from behind them, drones fly straight over the cardboard walls, and a tank's shell catches everything standing close together, which is also a reason not to bunch your own bots in front of an enemy tank. Pull damaged bots home to be mended rather than losing them, since missions are scored on time and on how many bots you lost. Start with the warm-up mission against the practice bots, then try skirmish on Easy. On Sharp the opponent scouts you and sends runners after your welders, so keep a turret or a few fighters near your scrap piles.
Yes. Bot Battalion is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download and no account to create, and the stars you earn in the missions are kept in the browser you play in.
Yes, it is made for a phone. You tap a group button, then tap the floor to move, drag to pan and use SEL to box a group, with a minimap to help. On a computer you drag to select, right-click to move, A attack-moves and S stops.
Each of the ten missions is scored on how fast you win and how many bots you lost. For the third star, keep your army together, pull damaged bots back for repairs and press on quickly once you have the upper hand. The double-speed button shortens the long build-ups.
Yes. Free skirmish puts you on one of three floors against a computer opponent that gathers and builds just like you. Choose Easy, Normal or Sharp; Sharp scouts your base, builds against what it finds and sends runners after your welders. Fog of war is optional.
Plan, build and outthink the other side.

Roll the dice, take the map

Happy animals, happy visitors

Build a port, keep the ships coming

Build an island, season by season

Build a village, raise a castle

Outflank, outthink, take the castle

Buy low, sail far, sell high

Keep the lights on, keep them breathing

Lay the track, run the line

Hold the ring, deck by deck

Flip gravity, push crates, wake your friends

Crank the line, box the bots

Run, jump and blast rival robots

Bank the bolt, clear the arena

Pull back, let fly, bonk the robots
