Pumpkin Carver
Trace the stencil, light the lantern

A quick rhythm game on a moonlit porch stage. Wrapped candies fall from the full moon to four pumpkin pads, you tap each lane on the beat, and a troupe of friendly skeletons in party hats dances along, pulling spins, backflips and a cancan line as your combo climbs.

Skeleton Dance is a quick Halloween rhythm game with four lanes and four friendly skeletons: one in a witch hat, one in a top hat, one with a green bow and one in a party hat. Wrapped candies fall from a big full moon toward four pumpkin pads, and you tap the lane as each candy lands. Hit it and the skeleton on that side strikes a pose; hit ten in a row and the whole troupe pulls a trick, from a spin and a skull toss to a backflip, a cancan kick line, a bone rattle and a star jump. Every tune is original and synthesised live in your browser, so the beat you tap is exactly the beat you hear.
Twenty songs come in four styles: Swing with a xylophone and a walking bass, Mambo with marimba and clave, Polka with an accordion and an oom-pah tuba, and Disco with a wobbly theremin over a four-on-the-floor kick. Tempo and density rise gently, from a relaxed 92 BPM to a busy 142, and each song lasts about a minute. The timing windows are generous, a miss only turns the candy into a little ghost that says boo and floats away, and every song plays to the end.
Each song keeps your high score and up to three glowing pumpkins, and a fresh Daily Dance is generated every day with its own best score. Play with D F J K or the arrow keys, click the lanes with a mouse, or tap them on a phone or tablet. Beat lines and pulsing pads make it fully playable with the sound off, and a short sync screen lines the timing up with your speakers or headphones.
Before your first song in Skeleton Dance, use SYNC on the title screen to line the timing up with your speakers or headphones. It takes a moment and makes every tap land where you expect it to. After that, watch the pumpkin pads rather than the moon: you score by tapping the lane as each candy lands, and the beat lines and pulsing pads show you exactly when.
Your combo matters most. Every ten hits in a row sets the whole troupe off on a trick, so a steady run of clean taps is worth more than rushing. If you miss, do not chase the lost note; the candy just turns into a little ghost and the song carries on to the end, so pick up the rhythm on the next one. Start with the slower songs, which begin at a relaxed 92 BPM, and work up to the busier ones near 142. On a keyboard, resting your fingers on D F J K keeps all four lanes under your hands.

Yes. Beat lines and pulsing pumpkin pads show when each candy lands, so the game is fully playable in silence. With sound on, the SYNC screen on the title lines up the timing with your speakers or headphones.
There are twenty original songs in four styles: Swing, Mambo, Polka and Disco. Each lasts about a minute, and the tempo rises from 92 to 142 BPM. A fresh Daily Dance is also generated every day with its own best score.
