Tap the grass to send foragers out for crumbs, put every spare ant to work, and dig the nest deeper room by room. Nursery, food store, fungus garden, barracks, throne room: each one you carve out of the soil makes space for more ants, and more ants means more crumbs coming down the tunnels.
Did you like Ant Empire?
Ant Empire is an idle colony drawn as a cross-section of the ground. Above the line there is a picnic blanket with crumbs on it, a fallen apple and a meadow that turns from spring flowers to summer seed heads to autumn leaves to snow. Below it the soil is layered in warm browns, threaded with roots, pebbles and little pale mushrooms, and your nest spreads down through it as you grow. Tap anywhere on the surface and foragers pour out of the mound to fetch what you found.
Food buys ants and ants need somewhere to live. Ten jobs hire in turn, from the first forager through diggers, nurses, soldiers, scouts, leafcutters, builders, honeypots and winged drones up to the royal guard, and every tenth, twenty-fifth, fiftieth and hundredth ant of a job doubles what that job brings in. Chambers are what make room for them: pick one and a digging crew hollows it out in front of you, throwing soil as they go, and the new hall fills with eggs, seed piles, fungus combs or a queen the size of five workers. Royal upgrades stack on top, from stronger mandibles to scent trails to a warm nursery.
The meadow does not sit still. Seasons turn every few minutes and change how much the foragers find, so a full store matters before winter. A beetle turns up at the gate now and then and your soldiers meet it, though tapping the beetle yourself gets it gone faster. Rain floods a tunnel and then leaves the soil easy to dig; somebody drops half a sandwich and the whole colony rushes out. The nest keeps working while the tab is closed, up to eight hours' worth, and a card tells you what came in. When the colony has grown past what one queen can manage, a winged princess flies off to found a new one and takes royal jelly with her, which makes every colony after that quicker than the last.
In Ant Empire, food buys ants but ants need room, so keep digging new chambers as you hire rather than doing one and forgetting the other. Each job doubles what it brings in at its tenth, twenty-fifth, fiftieth and hundredth ant, so pushing a job to its next milestone is often better value than spreading your food thinly across all ten. Royal upgrades stack on top of everything, from stronger mandibles to scent trails to a warm nursery, so check that list as well.
The seasons turn every few minutes and change how much the foragers find, so build up a full store before winter arrives. When a beetle turns up at the gate, tap it yourself, because that gets it gone faster than leaving it to the soldiers. After rain floods a tunnel the soil is easy to dig, which makes it a good moment to start a new chamber, and a dropped sandwich is worth the rush. The nest keeps working for up to eight hours while the tab is closed. Once the colony has grown past what one queen can manage, send off the winged princess, because the royal jelly she takes makes every colony after it quicker.
Yes. Ant Empire is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download and no account to create; tap the grass and the first foragers head out for crumbs.
Yes. On a phone you tap the surface to gather food, tap a row in the list to hire ants or dig rooms, swipe the list and drag the soil to look around. On a computer Space gathers food and Tab switches lists.
Yes. The nest keeps working while the tab is closed, for up to eight hours' worth. When you come back, a card tells you what came in while you were gone, so it pays to return within that time.
