What are idle and clicker games

An idle game starts with you doing the work by hand. You tap a rock, a cauldron or a cat, and each tap earns a little of something: ore, gold, hearts, energy. You spend it on helpers and machines that keep earning on their own, then spend what they bring in on bigger ones. The numbers grow faster and faster, and the fun is in choosing what to buy next and watching your mine, shop or station fill up with everything you paid for.

The idle games on Kiloo follow the same pattern, each in its own little world. What you buy appears on screen, so the cafe gets cushions and a cat tree and the mine gets new galleries and carts. In several of them a kind of helper doubles its output once you own ten, twenty-five, fifty or a hundred of it. Small events turn up to tap for a bonus, and nearly every game has a fresh start that trades your progress for a permanent boost to the next run.

Idle games to start with

For a classic tapper, start with Deep Dig or Mine Mogul. In Deep Dig you tap the rock face for ore, hire miners, drills and cart lines, and work your way down through nine layers from topsoil to the core. Mine Mogul sinks a shaft through coal, copper, silver, gold and gems, and adds a market where ore prices drift, so you can hold your stockpile for a better price. Dragon Hoard is the same idea in a storybook cave: you breathe fire to knock gold loose, hire kobolds and goblins to raid the valley, and watch your dragon grow from hatchling to ancient.

If you like something cosy, Cat Cafe has you pet cats for hearts while customers come in out of the rain, Ocean Aquarium has you feed fish for pearls and fill a huge tank with twelve species, and Cloud Farm lets you plant cloudberries on a floating cloud and sell sky-sheep wool to a passing airship. Potion Shop has you stir a bubbling cauldron and sell the bottles to goblins, knights and ghosts.

For a bigger build, Star Forge grows a space station module by module and sends probes out to chart new worlds. Ant Empire digs a colony room by room through the soil, through four seasons and the odd downpour. Robot Factory runs a toy works where every machine you buy takes a tin robot one stage further down the line.

Tapping, buying and coming back later

Every idle game here uses one main action. On a computer you click the rock, the cauldron, the cave or the water, or press Space in Deep Dig, Star Forge, Ant Empire, Robot Factory and Potion Shop. Number keys buy from the list in several of them, Tab switches between lists in Ant Empire, Mine Mogul and Cloud Farm, P pauses and M mutes. On a phone or tablet you tap the same spot and tap a row in the list to buy.

Early on, tapping is most of your income, so keep at it for the first few minutes. Once the helpers take over, spend on whatever doubles soonest and keep an eye out for events, such as a delivery box in Cat Cafe, a thieving raven in Potion Shop or a jammed machine in Robot Factory. When you close the tab, the game keeps working for up to eight hours, and a card tells you what came in when you return. Progress is saved in the browser you play in.

Frequently asked questions

Are the idle games on Kiloo free?

Yes. Every idle and clicker game on Kiloo is free to play in your browser. There is nothing to download or install and no account to create; press Play and start tapping. Your mine, your farm or your cafe is saved in the browser you play in, so it is there when you come back.

Can I play idle games on my phone or tablet?

Yes, all ten idle games work on phones and tablets as well as on computers. You tap the rock, the cauldron, the cave or the cats to earn, and tap a row in the list to buy. In Mine Mogul and Cloud Farm you can also drag to look around, and Cloud Farm lets you pinch to zoom.

Which idle game should I start with?

Deep Dig is the easiest to understand: tap the rock, hire a miner, and the mine grows downwards as you buy more. If you prefer a calm, cosy game, try Cat Cafe or Ocean Aquarium. Star Forge and Ant Empire suit you if you enjoy planning a bigger build over a longer time.

Do idle games keep going when I close the tab?

Yes. In all ten idle games the work carries on while the tab is closed, for up to eight hours. When you come back, a card shows what your crew, minions or shop earned in the meantime. Progress is kept in the browser on that device, so it does not follow you to another one.

What does starting over do?

Most of these games let you trade your current run for a permanent bonus. You cave in for relics in Deep Dig, molt for scales in Dragon Hoard, crown a new queen in Ant Empire and stake a new claim in Mine Mogul. You begin again from the start, but everything after that runs faster.
