Logic, nerves and one wrong click

Swap two gems, line up three or more and watch the board come down: every cascade multiplies the score and puts seconds back on the clock.
Did you like Gem Swap?
Gem Swap is a match three built for short, sharp rounds. Six faceted gems fill an eight by eight board and every move is a swap with a neighbour: line up three of a kind and they burst, the gems above fall into the gap and fresh ones drop in from the top. If the new arrangement makes another match it clears on its own, and each link in that chain multiplies what the whole cascade is worth.
Bigger matches leave something behind. Four in a row packs the leftover gem into a line gem that fires down a whole row or column the next time it is matched, and five makes a rainbow gem: swap it with any gem on the board and every gem of that colour goes at once. Set one off next to the other and the chain reaction runs across the board on its own.
A round is ninety seconds and there is no move limit, so the only thing that matters is how fast you can read the board. Cascades put seconds back on the clock. If you would rather take your time, switch on Zen and the clock disappears entirely. Drag a gem or tap two in turn on a touch screen, drag or click with a mouse, arrow keys and space on a keyboard. Idle for five seconds and a gem wobbles to point out a move; if the board ever runs out of moves it shuffles itself. Your best score is saved in your browser. Press Z for Zen, M to mute.
Gem Swap gives you ninety seconds and no move limit, so speed of reading the board matters more than finding the perfect swap. Make a match quickly rather than staring at the board, because cascades put seconds back on the clock and every link in a chain multiplies the score.
After each swap, watch where the falling gems land, because a cascade you spot coming can be followed with a bigger match. Look for four and five in a row whenever you can. Four leaves a line gem that clears a whole row or column when matched, and five leaves a rainbow gem that clears every gem of the colour you swap it with. Try to set one of these off next to the other, as the chain reaction then runs across the board without you.
If you get stuck, wait five seconds and a gem will wobble to show a possible move, and if there are no moves at all the board shuffles itself. When you want to learn the special gems without pressure, press Z for Zen mode and the clock disappears.
Yes. Gem Swap is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download and no account to create, so a round starts as soon as you press Play. Your best score is saved in the browser you play in.
Yes. On a phone or tablet you drag a gem or tap two in turn to swap them. On a computer you drag or click with the mouse, or use the arrow keys and Space. M mutes the sound and Space restarts.
A round lasts ninety seconds and there is no limit on moves. Cascades add seconds back on the clock, so a good chain can keep a round going longer. In Zen mode there is no clock at all.
Matching four in a row makes a line gem, which fires down a whole row or column when you match it. Matching five makes a rainbow gem: swap it with any gem and every gem of that colour clears at once.
Think ahead, clear the board.

Four difficulties, one right answer

Turn the pipes, open the valve

Bend the beam, crack the vault

Plan the order, never pull

Dig, dodge, collect diamonds

Slide, merge, reach 2048

Stack, clear, don't top out

Climb three peaks, one card at a time

Seven letters, two minutes

Match free tiles, clear the table

Mahjong, built into a block

Tap a group, watch the board crumble

Line up five, keep the board clear

Link the dots, close a square
