Slime Saga
A party RPG in miniature

A tiny knight, a grid of rooms and one rule: every move is a turn. Bump cute monsters, pick gear with clear numbers and see how deep you can go before you need a nap at camp.
Did you like Grid Knight?
Grid Knight is a quick, turn-based roguelike on a tile grid. A small knight explores a floor of rooms, and every step is a turn: you move, then every monster in the room takes one. Walk into a slime, a bat, a mushroom or a clockwork crab to bonk it and it poofs into sparkles, often with a coin left behind. Pick up hearts, coins and keys, open chests, unlock the door to the stairs and head down.
It is a brain game more than a reflex game. Every monster shows its health, slimes rest every other turn, mushrooms count down before they puff spores over the tiles around them and crabs only scuttle sideways, so you can plan each move. Chests offer a pick of two, like a sharper sword or an extra heart, and gear has plain numbers: attack from the sword, defence from the shield, a dodge chance from boots and a lucky double bonk from a charm. Twenty floors run through a cellar, a crystal cave, an underground garden and a clockwork workshop, with a friendly frog shopkeeper every five floors who trades gear for coins and a boss every ten.
When the knight faints, they wake up back at camp and the next run starts fresh, but progress carries over: new floors and boss wins unlock better starting gear, and a bestiary fills in as you meet each monster. After floor 20 the descent turns endless, and your best floor and high score are kept in your browser. A daily dungeon is the same for everyone that day, and the game saves after every single turn, so you can close the tab mid-fight and carry on later.
Grid Knight rewards patience. Every step you take gives each monster in the room a turn, so before you move, look at what the room will do next. Health is shown above every monster, which tells you how many bonks it needs. Slimes only act every other turn, so time your approach for their rest. Keep clear of the tiles around a mushroom when its countdown is about to run out, and step into a crab's path from above or below, since it only moves sideways. Space lets you wait a turn, which is often the safest move of all.
When a chest offers two choices, think about what this run lacks: an extra heart if you keep running low, a sharper sword if fights drag on. Save some coins for the frog shopkeeper who turns up every five floors, and expect a boss every ten. A faint is not wasted, because new floors and boss wins unlock better starting gear for the next run.
Yes. Grid Knight is free to play in your browser on Kiloo, with nothing to download and no account needed. The game saves after every turn, and your best floor and high score are kept in the browser you play in.
Yes. On a phone or tablet you tap a tile to walk there or swipe to take a single step. On a computer you use the arrow keys or WASD, Space to wait and 1, 2 and 3 for items, or click a tile to walk to it.
The knight wakes up back at camp and a fresh run begins. Your progress is not lost, though: reaching new floors and beating bosses unlocks better starting gear, and the bestiary keeps every monster you have met.
There are twenty floors across a cellar, a crystal cave, an underground garden and a clockwork workshop. After floor 20 the descent carries on endlessly, so you can keep going as deep as your knight can manage.
Level up, gather loot and venture one floor deeper.
