Hive Defense
Guard the queen, comb by comb

Build sheriff posts, cannon wagons, cactus patches and storm-fed water towers along a wild west stage road, drop your lasso marshal once a wave and keep the bandits out of town.
Did you like Cactus Canyon?
Cactus Canyon is a cartoon tower defence set in the red-rock country. A stage road comes out of the desert, winds past mine shafts, saloons and a trestle bridge, and ends at the gate of your frontier town. Twelve marked plots sit along it, and what you build on them decides how far the bandit gangs get.
Five towers, three levels each. Sheriff posts fire a steady rifle and reach further than anything else on the board. Cannon wagons lob an arcing shell that splashes over a whole cluster. Cactus patches cost almost nothing and simply hurt to ride past, slowing everything caught in the spines. Water towers keep a small storm in the tank and throw chain lightning that jumps between five riders. From wave six you can raise a Gatling rig that spins up the longer it keeps firing. Drop the lasso marshal once a wave and he plants himself on the road, ropes one bandit at a time and shoots the rest.
Outlaws come first, then horse riders that sprint, dynamite mules that blow a tower clean off its plot, armoured stagecoaches that soak up everything you own, and a bandit chief who rallies the pack. Every tenth wave the Iron Horse rolls in: an armoured locomotive that drops outlaws out of the back as it comes. Gold comes from knockouts, from clearing a wave and from shooting the tumbleweeds that blow across the canyon. Three hand-laid maps, twenty waves each, twenty lives, three stars for a flawless defence, and an endless run once the gate still stands.
Cactus Canyon gives you twelve plots, so where you build matters as much as what. Cactus patches cost almost nothing and slow every rider caught in the spines, which makes them a cheap way to hold bandits in front of your other towers. Put cannon wagons where riders bunch up, since their shells splash over a whole cluster, and use sheriff posts for range. Water towers are strong against groups too, as their lightning jumps between five riders.
Watch out for dynamite mules, which can blow a tower clean off its plot, and armoured stagecoaches, which soak up a lot of fire. The Iron Horse arrives every tenth wave and drops outlaws as it comes, so have your defence ready before then. Save the lasso marshal for the moment a wave threatens to get through. Shooting tumbleweeds earns extra gold, and calling a wave early with Space speeds things up once you are comfortable.
Yes. Cactus Canyon is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download and no account to create; pick one of the three canyons and start building on the plots along the stage road.
Yes. On a phone or tablet you tap a plot to build and pick a tower from the panel, then tap a tower to upgrade or sell it. On a computer 1 to 5 picks a tower, H drops the marshal and F speeds up.
Once every wave you can drop the lasso marshal onto the trail. He plants himself on the road, ropes one bandit at a time and fires at the rest, which makes him useful when a wave is close to reaching town.
Each of the three hand-laid maps has twenty waves, and you have twenty lives. A flawless defence earns three stars, and once the gate still stands after wave twenty an endless run opens up.
Build, upgrade and hold the line.

Guard the queen, comb by comb

Hold the keep, wave after wave

Hold the ring, deck by deck

Keep the porch light on

Guard the cove by sea and sand

Sweet towers, sour invaders

Freeze them, shatter them, hold the igloos

Spears, boulders and tar against the dinosaurs

Overclock the brass, hold the tower

Run, jump, slide, don't stop

Bounce up the page

Tuck, carve, send it

The floor is lava. Keep running.

Six tries, one word a day

Buy low, sail far, sell high

Crush the cars, nail the landing

Pair to thirteen, clear the pyramid

Tap in time, build to the sky

Aim, fire, pop the tub clean

Hold the trail, hold the town
