What are tower defence games

In a tower defence game the enemies walk a fixed path towards something you have to protect, and your job is to decide what stands beside that path. You spend coins on towers, place them on the spots the map allows, and watch them fire on their own as each wave comes through. Between waves you upgrade, sell and rearrange. The fun is in the planning: a tower that slows a crowd next to one that splashes is worth far more than either on its own.

The tower defence games on Kiloo share a clear pattern, so once you learn one you can pick up the rest. Each has five towers with three upgrade levels, a sell-back option, hand-made maps or waves, and an endless run once the main battle is done. What changes is the setting and the twist: lantern light in a pumpkin patch, two routes at once in a pirate cove, wax walls that reroute a swarm inside a beehive.

Tower defence games to start with

Goblin Siege is the natural first game. You build archer towers, cannons and wizard spires along a meadow road, send a knight out to block the bridge and hold the gate of your keep through fifteen waves of goblins. Orbital Defense follows the same plan in space: laser turrets, flak cannons and EMP coils on the hex pads of a station ring, against combat robots whose shields have to be stripped first.

If you want a twist, Reef Raiders sends pirates at your lighthouse village by boat through the reef and on foot up the beach at the same time, so you guard two routes. Pumpkin Patch Panic puts you on a farm at night, where lantern posts reveal ghosts and widen the range of every tower standing in their light. Hive Defense lets you plug the tunnel with wax walls, so the wasps and hornets have to take the long way round to the queen.

For longer campaigns, Gummy Guard and Frost Line each have twelve hand-laid maps. In Gummy Guard you line a caramel road with gummy archers and lollipop mortars and fill a sugar-rush meter for a sprinkle storm. In Frost Line penguins, a walrus and a yeti crew your towers, and you freeze polar raiders into ice statues before shattering them. Dino Ridge holds a cave village against raptors, triceratops and a T-rex, Clockwork Keep lets you overclock brass towers until they glow, and Cactus Canyon gives you a lasso marshal to drop onto the trail once every wave.

Controls and tips for tower defence

Every tower defence game here works on desktop, tablet and phone. With a mouse you click a pad to build and then pick a tower, or in Gummy Guard, Frost Line, Clockwork Keep and Hive Defense you click the tower first and then the pad. The keys 1 to 5 pick a tower type, Space calls the next wave, F speeds up time, P pauses and M mutes. On a touch screen you tap in the same way, and you tap a tower to upgrade or sell it. In most of the games you hold on a tower to see its range.

Watch for enemies that fly. In Goblin Siege only the archer tower and the wizard spire can reach the bats, and in Orbital Defense only the laser turret and the flak cannon reach anything in the air, so build at least one of those early. Calling a wave early in Goblin Siege or Orbital Defense earns you bonus gold or credits, but only do it when your towers are comfortably ahead. If a tower ends up in the wrong place, sell it back and build again somewhere better.

Frequently asked questions

Are the tower defence games on Kiloo free?

Yes. Every tower defence game on Kiloo is free to play in your browser. There is nothing to download or install and no account is needed; press Play and the first wave is ready. Your progress and best runs are kept in the browser you play in.

Can I play tower defence games on my phone or tablet?

Yes, all ten tower defence games work on phones and tablets as well as on computers. You tap a pad and pick a tower, or tap a tower and then a pad, and tap a built tower to upgrade or sell it. The keyboard shortcuts are only needed on a computer.

Which tower defence game should I start with?

Start with Goblin Siege. It has a single meadow road, clear tower roles and fifteen waves, so it teaches the basics. When that feels easy, try Reef Raiders for two routes at once, or Gummy Guard and Frost Line if you want twelve maps to work through.

What happens after the last wave?

Most of the games continue with an endless run once the main battle is over. In Goblin Siege, Orbital Defense, Pumpkin Patch Panic and Reef Raiders that comes after fifteen hand-tuned waves, and the enemies keep getting tougher. Gummy Guard, Frost Line, Dino Ridge, Clockwork Keep, Cactus Canyon and Hive Defense also have an endless run after their maps.

Can I speed up or pause a battle?

Yes. In every tower defence game here P pauses and F speeds up time, so you can run a calm wave at double speed and stop to think when it gets busy. Space calls the next wave when you are ready, and M mutes the sound.
